Sheedy’s Reign Comes To An End

After 27 years at the helm of the mighty Essendon Football Club, it was announced today that the club would not be renewing Kevin Sheedy’s contract when it expires at the end of the season.

“They’ve been absolutely fantastic as a club. You don’t often get to coach the club that you barrack for – I’ve been very lucky like that”, said Sheedy speaking at a packed media conference.

Chief Executive Officer, Peter Jackson, re-iterated the immense contribution Sheedy has made to the club. “It’s been a very difficult decision, its been a challenging decision,” he said. “He has had the most profound effect on the football club.”
