Fast Food Just Got Lazier

Looking for a toilet stop after finishing up at a seminar last Tuesday morning, I found the McDonalds in Bourke Street Melbourne to be the most convenient convenience.

Walking in, I discovered this store was fitted out with self-serve terminals, where you walk up to the touch screens, punch in your order yourself, pay with your card, and get given a receipt with a number.

When your order is ready, they call out your number and you collect your food. Never seen a McDonalds kitted out like this before – but I couldn’t help but think the whole fast food experience just got a little bit lazier!

iPhone Fail!

Really cool idea for a journalist – use your iPhone to record stand up interviews – like this one with Australian Formula One driver, Mark Webber, after practice at the Australian Grand Prix on Friday afternoon.

However, the last time I checked, the microphone is at the BOTTOM of the phone – (pointed at the reporter’s hand in this shot) – not at the top!

FAIL!

iPhone Hits The Street

After months of hype and expectation, the Apple iPhone is released in the United States, tomorrow morning, Australian time.

While it is at least 12 months away from hitting Australian shores (or even longer), the technology is certainly interesting, and changes the mobile phone paradigm dramatically.

While I love what the iPhone offers, I won’t be moving away from my iMate JASJAM any time soon – the iPhone just doesn’t offer that much more – but for anyone looking to upgrade their phone from some old clunker, the iPhone should be hard to walk past.
